Taylor the Turtle: My Body Belongs to Me is a sexual abuse prevention programme founded on concepts of emotional literacy within a framework of human rights language. The focus is to build capacity for self-expression and resilience, and identify protective factors through discussion, arts, and story telling. The programme deviates from traditional prevention programmes by the omission of scary scenarios and the narrow scoped “Good touch/Bad touch” or “Stranger Danger” approaches. Taylor emphasizes the positive and the connection between mind and body. This one-hour workshop will provide an overview to parents and caregivers of the foundations of the Taylor programme, with strategies on how to implement the foundational messages at home in everyday life.
