Strengthening the Building Blocks for Daily Routines: Fine Motor Skills

Ages: 8 - 11 years

This after school group is designed for children between 8-11 years old and aims to improve/refine fine motor skills essential to daily routines that children may be participating in, such as printing, dressing (laces, buttons, etc.), and using utensils effectively.

Areas such as improving hand and finger strength, grasp, dexterity, and in-hand manipulation skills will be targeted using activities, strategies and tools commonly used in Occupational Therapy sessions. This group will consist of 5 children – participants should have verbal communication skills and basic printing skills (i.e. able to print letters and their name independently). There will be a 5 child to 3 staff ratio for this service.

Note: The group sessions will be led by an Occupational Therapy Assistant, and will be supervised by a registered Occupational Therapist.

Group package includes:

• Screener for fine motor skills (this will occur on first day with registered Occupational Therapist).
• All direct intervention and materials used for group.
• Clinical supervision of staff.
• Summary report after group is complete.
• Tip sheets/resource sheets.
• Invoices and receipts to submit to either OAP, or may be covered by employee benefits.

Session details:

• Wednesday’s for 8 weeks
• Starting November 8, 2023
• 5:00pm - 6:30pm
• COST: $1,200
