For Autism Awareness Month, Bethesda Children and Youth Services is thrilled to host an inspirational evening with Michael Jacques. Michael was diagnosed with autism and an intellectual disability at a young age. Never one to shy away from obstacles, Michael has made his authorial debut, sharing experiences from his life to help audiences understand the power of belonging.
In 2018, Michael wrote and self-published "Can't Read, Can't Write, Here's My Book" using speech-to-text technology. He followed this with "I Belong: Can I Play?", a children's book co-authored with Heather Gale, released in 2020.
Michael's story is one of empowerment, demonstrating the importance of self-acceptance, recognizing one's strengths, valuing relationships, and community involvement. He is a passionate speaker who inspires and educates audiences on diversity and inclusion. He is also a Niagara region local!
Join us at the Bethesda Niagara Family Centre for an engaging presentation by Michael, followed by a Q&A session with the author.
Please note this is a caregiver only event, childcare is not available.
Please be sure to indicate the number of adults attending from you family during registration.
